Happy New Year! It's that time in the cycle where I plan for my next year of business, while also reflecting on my last year. At some point, I'll write about that process in more detail, but in the meantime, here are some highlights of WanderingModa 2022:
- I made a ton of patterns (literally hundreds): it was hard to choose my favorites for this roundup, but it was fun to choose a Top 8! - Spent time in Hong Kong, Spain, France, Portugal, and Greece, which brought my total number of countries up to 36: just in time for my 36th birthday :) - Kept learning Spanish and met a group of creative friends who also love exploring, learning, and creating - Started paying more attention to my body-brain balance, focusing on being active and taking lots of breaks from my screens
Here are a few WanderingModa numbers from this year:
- Participated in 8 different design challenges through Instagram, which helped me create a total of 26 new patterns
- Entered new artwork into 32 Spoonflower weekly design challenges
- Learned Procreate for iPad, which changed a lot about my workflows and artistic processes
- Watched 45 hours worth of Skillshare classes (and spent a lot more time offline working on these classes!)
- Started my newsletter, and sent a new digital wallpaper every month to my subscribers (the freebie this year is also super exciting; scroll to the bottom of this page if you want to subscribe!)
- Finished my portfolio and pitched to 10 companies. There will be a whole lot more of that in 2023, and I'm excited to see where it leads.
2023 has a lot in the works, and I can't wait to get started - there's more travel planned, some big projects coming up, and probably a lot more chaos and excitement than it would be possible to predict.
